At Roots & Rituals, we don't choose ingredients simply because they smell beautiful or nourish the skin. Every herb, flower, oil, wood, and botanical is selected with intention. Each ingredient carries a symbolic relationship with a planetary archetype, drawing inspiration from the timeless wisdom of Vedic Astrology (Jyotish), Ayurveda, and traditional botanical knowledge.

To some, this may sound like witchcraft.

Perhaps it is—the gentle kind.

The kind rooted not in superstition, but in centuries of observing the intimate relationship between nature, the cosmos, and human life.

Our journey began by digging deep into the vast ocean of knowledge preserved within Vedic Astrology. As we explored ancient texts and traditional planetary correspondences, we discovered that every Graha (planet) has its own associated element, colours, metals, flowers, herbs, woods, fragrances, oils, and even foods. These associations were not created overnight—they have been part of India's spiritual and cultural traditions for thousands of years.

If you've ever consulted a Vedic astrologer, you may have been advised to wear certain colours, offer specific flowers, light particular incense, use sandalwood, or practice aromatherapy with fragrances connected to a planet. These are examples of traditional planetary remedies (Upayas), where natural substances are used symbolically to cultivate harmony with a planet's qualities.

Another beautiful example of these planetary correspondences can be found in the sacred rituals of Havan and Pujan. During many Vedic ceremonies, the priest uses Navgrah Samidha—a sacred collection of woods, with each type of wood traditionally associated with one of the nine planets. These woods are offered into the sacred fire while invoking the blessings of the Navgrahas. This ancient practice reflects a profound understanding that different trees and plants resonate with different planetary energies. Just as flowers, herbs, fragrances, metals, and colours are connected to specific Grahas, certain woods are too. It reminds us that the natural world and the celestial world have always been seen as deeply interconnected.

This philosophy became the foundation of our soaps.

When we created Moon Soap, we didn't simply ask, "Which ingredients moisturize the skin?" We asked something far more meaningful:

"If the Moon could become a soap, what would nature choose?"

The Moon represents emotions, intuition, nurturing, softness, comfort, and inner peace. So our formulation naturally reflects those qualities.

Creamy goat milk offers gentle nourishment and comfort. Almond oil has long been associated with softness and care. Chamomile is cherished for its calming nature, while jasmine has been revered for centuries for its delicate, soothing fragrance. Even the creamy white appearance of the soap mirrors the Moon's luminous glow.

Every ingredient speaks the language of the same planet.

Every botanical contributes to the same story.

This philosophy extends throughout the entire Roots & Rituals collection. Every planetary soap begins with extensive research into Vedic astrological correspondences. The Sun naturally inspires warming botanicals and radiant aromas. Venus embraces luxurious florals and skin-loving oils. Saturn calls for grounding woods and earthy herbs. Mercury favours fresh, green botanicals. Each formulation is thoughtfully built around the symbolic qualities of its ruling planet.

Our ingredients are not chosen to follow trends.

They are chosen to honour a planetary archetype.

It is important to understand what our soaps are—and what they are not. They are not astrological remedies, nor do they claim to alter destiny or replace traditional spiritual practices. Rather, they are thoughtfully handcrafted products inspired by the symbolic language of Vedic Astrology and the wisdom of nature.

We believe rituals matter.

Just as a familiar fragrance can instantly calm the mind or awaken a cherished memory, surrounding yourself with botanicals that embody a particular planetary energy can transform an ordinary bath into a mindful ritual of self-care and reflection.

Every bar begins with one simple question:

If this planet could express itself through nature, what would it smell like? What would it feel like? What ingredients would it choose?

That question guides every formulation at Roots & Rituals.

Perhaps that's the true witchcraft of soap making—not magic in the supernatural sense, but the quiet magic of intention, ancient wisdom, and nature coming together in the palm of your hand.

"Nature has always spoken the language of the planets. At Roots & Rituals, we simply learned to listen."
